City Secretary

The City Secretary facilitates, supports and enhances the efforts of the City Council to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of their office and provides access to public records and information to the public. 

City Council

The City Secretary’s Office serves the City Council by documenting all legal and official actions of the body. The City Secretary’s Office records minutes, archives ordinances and resolutions. The City Secretary’s Office serves as a facilitator between the Citizens and the Council.

Elections

The City Secretary’s Office, along with Dallas County Elections, coordinates all elections for the City of Garland. This office works with the County to secure polling locations, provide information to Garland citizens and ensures that the election process is fair and open.

Boards & Commissions

The City Secretary’s Office coordinates the recruitment and application process for all boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide an opportunity for citizens to participate in an advisory role to the Council, providing invaluable input to the local democratic process. The City Secretary’s Office maintains an archive of minutes for each of the boards and commissions established through the Charter.

Most minutes are available online. Minutes not available online can be requested from the City Secretary’s Office. DVD's and CD's may be purchased.Digital files are available and can be downloaded and viewed online. The City Code of Ordinances is available online or at the Library.

Additional ID Options for Voters
